One of the important features of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme is migrating 30% of the children from one Navodaya to another at Class-IX level. The Executive Committee in its meeting, the period of migration reduced to one year in order to enable the students to take advantage  of domicile requirement for attaining higher education particularly in professional courses in their respective home State/UTs. The migration is expected to take place generally between Hindi and non-Hindi speaking districts. The students to be migrated are generally selected by the vidyalaya, on the  basis of students volition and a lottery where sufficient number is not coming forward on voluntary basis.

JNV Bangalore Rural is linked to JNV, Alirajapur, Madhya Pradesh which is around 2000 km. Every year 30% of the total strength of students of IX are migrated from both sides.
